01 · Why we exist
A label is not the whole story.
Ethical Suppliers began with a practical problem: people wanted better choices, but terms such as “free range” and “organic” did not always provide enough consistent information. The answer was not another claim. It was better access to the evidence behind it.
02 · Our approach
Trust is evidence
in context.
A supplier record should show why information is believed, where it came from, and when it was last reviewed. The system preserves those distinctions instead of flattening them into a single unexplained score.

The work begins as a South African directory focused on ethical farming, free-range and organic producers, and more conscious consumer choices.

The company is formally registered, giving the growing directory and its wider responsible-sourcing work a permanent legal home.

From directory to trade
Import and export work begins, expanding the focus into commodities, supplier due diligence, and the trust problems surrounding complex transactions.
Through the quieter years that followed, Ethical Suppliers continued mentoring farmers, sharing fraud-awareness guidance, helping people locate products and suppliers, and facilitating occasional sales.

The Procurement Directory integrates with PL4TFORM Finance as curated procurement intelligence through a secure, controlled data boundary.

Built to inform systems—not become another silo.
Ethical Suppliers remains a separate data product and codebase. PL4TFORM Finance consumes authorised procurement records through a secure, versioned interface rather than copying private supplier data into the public website or PL4TFORM Core.
Research direction: stronger attestations, transaction safeguards, and responsible ways to protect participants in trade. These are future areas of work, not services currently offered.
